My husband and I saw a bunch of nice cars near the airport in Lincoln, NE, so we followed them around some cones and then they gave us dinner and some boxes.

What a strange place.

Really though, we went in with the goal of not finishing DFL, and somehow managed to land 11th (him) and 12th (me) out of 48 D Street drivers, which was just above the trophy cutoff (of 13). Suffice to say that we’re more than satisfied, and not to mention a little surprised at that result.

I’m too tired to do a full writeup, so here’s a quick run-down and some videos below.

Tuesday on the East Course was a wet mess and I coned away a run that would have earned me a podium spot by the end of the event, but in the end I can’t really complain too much . I forgot to record the run that ultimately counted for my time, so here’s the aforementioned run:

Wednesday on the West Course was a real head-scratcher. We both knew after our first run that there was at least another 0.5-1 second of improvement within reach, but none of our changes ever got us there and we’re still not sure why. Still, those times were just good enough to hold on to a trophy spot, and we’ll figure it out later once we can more easily compare our videos side-by-side.

Now I sleep. Goodnight, Oppo.

Congrats to both of you! I’ve been following the results rather obsessively and have a number of local competitors running there this week too . I’m hoping for a trip myself in 2020. I can only hope my STX RX-8 will still be somewhat competitive by then (Although one took 2nd in STX today)

All the photos I saw from the early day-1 runs looked absolutely crazy conditions. At least you guys got some dry runs in today.

Yeah, looking at the results was really confusing (B-mod outran A-mod) until I remembered how bad the rain was. Kinda sucks that we didn’t get to see the ultimate potential of the craziest class.

I was really confused by the title for a second there....

Congrats!  I have been the ultimate suck at autocross.  I started out on fast tracks, running full tilt, before I tried autocross, and I think it ruined me.

For sure, PAX will make absolutely no sense this year given the wildly varying weather conditions and some mid-event changes to both courses. I was also hoping to see some of that higher-end mod class insanity firsthand since KC only has FM regularly show up, but seeing all the EM cars go all out in the dry on Wednesday between our run and work heats was still a treat (though it did confirm my suspicions around how hopeless the Exocet is for now in that class ) .

That’s a pretty accurate descriptor. We actually had some people downing cones just from the sheer force of their wake in some areas, which unfortunately still counts.

That title was mostly a product of award ceremony beer and multi-day fatigue slap-happiness. Thanks though!

I could see that being a relatively rough transition, and I’ve had a few novice school students come from doing that with widely varying degrees of success . I’ll probably wind up having to deal with the flip side of that whenever I manage to get myself out to a track.

R&S Racing’s EM Camaro is just a bonkers machine. I still hope to build a Brunton Stalker/Caterham 7 and go run EM some day.
